Indaba Harvest 2021

With all of the hardships and challenges faced by the South African wine producing industry in 2020, it’s with great relief and delight that we are back in the vineyards this year.

The 2021 harvest has been an interesting one with some farmers reporting incidents where the sugar content shot sky-high overnight due to the unseasonable weather shifts which included light rain and cooler weather, interspersed with warm, balmy days. Naturally, when our producer informed us that our Merlot grapes were due for harvest, we grabbed our photographer and headed eagerly to the stunning Cape Winelands.

Our winemaker, Clayton Christians, joined us to walk the unitiated amongst us through the incredible process. We were in the vineyards at the crack of dawn and faced with an unforecasted drizzle. We didn’t let this rain on our parade however and after an hour or two, headed to the processing facility to meet with the cellar manager to take a tour.
